"On April 21, 2013,
My daughter was accused of fighting. She was no where around when the actual fight happened. She was walking with the little girl that did fight and it was a group of them. When they approached the entrance of the Catfish Festival in Washington, La. They were met my several police officers. They were told they could not enter; to leave the premises.
My daughter asked why and one cop screamed at her and told her he didnt have to explain anything to her. So she said fine, can I call my mom? My parents are on the inside and I have nowhere to go. He shoved her and told her to walk and talk. Then she turned around and started to leave.
The officers followed her and continued to push her cursing at her. She asked them to stop pushing her, she was leaving and they were not supposed to be touching her like that. The officer continued to follow and shove on my daughter. She then said she was going to call his superior.
That is when the officers attacked my daughter and body slammed her to the ground. My daughter was in the process of calling me while this was going on. When I answered the phone, all I can hear was my daughter screaming, "momma come save me momma, their attacking me. she kept saying that. all the while, im trying to ask her where she was. I was running screaming jazz where are you. tell momma where you are. I finally ran outside the gates of the festival and that when i saw the officers dragging my daughter and slammed her against the car.
I proceeded towards her screaming please dont hurt my child and two officers threatened me.
Finally the chief of police came and I yelled chief that's my child.
They then let me go to her and I was trying to talk to her, the cop threw her in the police unit.
Chief Broussard instructed him to take her to the pd. We followed the cop car there. My daughter's phone was still on and i could hear her screaming and the cop told her to shut the f*** up.
I was outraged. When we got to the station, the cop told me he was going to let me talk to her. When she got out of the car, I just grabbed and hugged her. My daughter started to catch a panic attack and he didn't want to take the cuffs off, then another cop came and stated oh no, I'm taking the cuffs off she really sick.
They told me they could charge her with several charges, disturbing the peace, she didn't; they disturbed the peace, resisting arrest, she probably did when they attacked her from behind, and refusing to leave the premises after forbidden, which she did-[leave]- and they followed her all the way down the street.
While my daughter was in her panic mode, one cop tried pulling her up by her arm and my husband got upset and they wanted to take him to the jail, because he told the cop not to pick her up that way!
But basically, those are the events that took place."
My daughter is 17 years old, a senior about to graduate. |
